Sex toys - what they are and how to use them - 3
Masturbation sleeves
Male sleeves are cavities of various shapes and sizes (e.g. mouth, vagina or anus) for male masturbation. Made of rubber, jelly, vinyl or cyberskin, some contain a vibrator with multi-speed vibration. Some have nubs inside for additional stimulation. There are a number of variations on this theme: some vibrate while others simultaneously move up and down; some have a pump that adds suction; and some are waterproof. A little lubrication should be used inside, especially if thrusting in and out.
Penis pumps
Penis pumps are tubes with suction devices that manually pull blood into the penis, making his erection firmer. They can be used as masturbation devices, for improving erections or for long-term treatment of erectile dysfunction.
Nipple clamps
Nipple clamps have padded vinyl clamps that can be adjusted to provide a light clamp on the nipples or a strong clamp, depending on your preference. Some nipple clamps are linked by a chain. Vibrating nipple clamps have small bullets that are attached to a battery-operated control offering multi-speed vibration. The clamps are placed on the nipples and vibration is turned on, gently at first and adjusted according to preference. If you wonder why on earth anyone might want to attach torture-like implements to sensitive nipples, consider that for women, the buzzing sensation may have a delicious reverberating effect on other erogenous zones. But the clamps are not only pleasureable on nipples - experiment on other parts of the body in accordance with your preferences.
Why vibrators were invented
And as for how this marvellous little toy came about – vibrators were invented as a device to cure women suffering from ‘hysteria’, a mental illness supposedly caused by their inability to take pleasure from heterosexual sex. For centuries doctors had prescribed dildos to these women and helped them use the ‘medical’ device. In the 1880s, a vibrating dildo was invented to make their job a bit easier and bingo – the vibrator was born. While it would take another seventy years for ‘hysteria’ officially to be struck off the list of psychoses, the porn industry in the 1920s cottoned onto the allure of vibrators and took them out of the strictly medical realm.
One final point – if you’ve ever wondered why some vibrators have strange animal-like faces, the reason is that many of them are made in Japan where it is illegal to manufacture sex toys that have an anatomically correct penis.
